NFL Betting News & Power Rankings 2020 WEEK 16!

2024-25 NFL Computer Predictions and Rankings rankings power betting Playoff Field Taking Shape
After Week 15 we are getting a clear idea about the contenders and the pretenders in the NFL. Let’s take a look at the power rankings for the top five teams in each conference still in postseason contention. All playoff-eligible teams will have accompanying Super Bowl odds in parentheses and we will also see what the NFL point spreads are on their upcoming games this week.
AFC Power Rankings
Kansas City Chiefs (13-1, +175) – Patrick Mahomes is the NFL’s new king and why wouldn’t his team be listed at the top of the AFC heap? There is little doubt the defending Super Bowl champs will be getting a first-round bye to lick their wounds and get ready to feast on whichever team draws the short straw and advances to meet them in the second round. Kansas City is currently listed as 10-point favorites over the Falcons this week.
Buffalo Bills (11-3, +1200) – Josh Allen is a rising star and anyone who took shots at the 6’5” Wyoming product is sitting silently now. The Bills defense has not been quite as good as many suspected heading into this season but the addition of Stefon Diggs to the offense has more than compensated for that slight regression. The Bills Mafia has finally found the enforcers they need to defend their turf.
Pittsburgh Steelers (11-2, +1200) – The Steelers will most likely be 12-2 by the time this gets published, as a Monday night date with the Bengals looms. Pittsburgh was the last undefeated team in the league but was unceremoniously dumped by Washington and followed that up with another setback to the emerging Buffalo Bills. The Steelers are being listed as 2 ½ point favorites over the Colts this week.
Indianapolis Colts (10-4, +3300) – Phillip Rivers left his longtime home in San Diego for the midwestern feel of Indianapolis and it’s worked out just fine for both parties. The Colts needed a bona fide quarterback and they got one with the 39-year-old Pro Bowler. Currently in a death struggle with Tennessee for AFC South supremacy, the Colts are 2 ½ point underdogs to the Steelers this week in what should be a marquee matchup.
Tennessee Titans (10-4, +2800) – With all due respect to the upstart Cleveland Browns, we have to give a slight edge to the Titans, a team that went all the way to the AFC Championship game last year before they bowed to the Chiefs. Ryan Tannehill’s career has made a Lazarus-like comeback and the Titans are a tough out for any opponent. Tennessee is being listed as 3 ½ point road underdogs to the Packers this week.
NFC Power Rankings
Green Bay Packers (11-3, +600) – The Packers are the favorites to dethrone the Chiefs this season as Super Bowl champs but that will be a tall task to be sure. Aaron Rodgers has been playing like a man possessed, and that might have something to do with the Packers drafting quarterback Jordan Love in the first-round as the heir-apparent to the throne. Needless to say, Rodgers isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon but the similarities between this situation and his own when waiting for Brett Favre to cede the reins is striking. The Packers are 3 ½ point home favorites over the Titans in Week 16.
New Orleans Saints (10-4, +800) – Drew Brees is another aging veteran leading his team to the promised land but he had been doing so on the sidelines after suffering several broken ribs and a collapsed lung against the 49ers in Week 10. He recently returned to action in a 32-29 loss to Kansas City which might have been a Super Bowl preview. The Saints are currently installed as seven-point favorites over the Vikings in a special Friday night matchup.
Seattle Seahawks (10-4, +1200) – Ironically, the team known for bone-jarring defenses in the past has one of the most porous this season. Yet, the offense led by Russell Wilson is so prolific that they have been able to overcome their defensive shortcomings. The Seahawks have won four of their last five but will be tested this weekend when they face the LA Rams as two-point home favorites.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10-4, +1200) – What a difference a quarterback makes, right? The Bucs have been on the outside looking in when the playoffs start for over a decade but now that Tom Terrific is pulling the levers in the Sunshine State, a postseason spot is there’s for the taking. The Bucs rallied from 17 points down to claim a 31-27 decision over the Falcons last week and are being dealt as 8 ½ point road dogs against the Lions this week.
Arizona Cardinals (8-6, +6000) – While many would put the Rams somewhere in the top five, it’s simply too difficult to do so after they lost to the worst team in football this past week. If you didn’t know, Los Angeles dropped a 23-20 decision to the Jets which makes the Cardinals the better team. That might be black and white logic at work but Kyler Murray is the real deal and will make noise in the postseason, just you wait. Arizona has been installed as 3 ½ point favorites over the 49ers on Saturday.

Saints VS Falcons on Week 13: Played With Limited Participation!

2024-25 NFL Computer Predictions and Rankings saints played participation limited falcons Seeing a ‘Q’ on a team’s lineup is a caution for fantasy team managers. It often means a questionable designation, indicating that the player will have a 50% chance of playing their upcoming match. Currently, the New Orleans Saints and the Atlanta Falcons have a considerable number of questionable players on their lineup.

This unexpected event adds an interesting challenge for football fantasy team managers, who have to come up with a strategy to deal with these circumstances. They can decide between replacing them with substitute players or retain them. While this is a tough call for fantasy team managers, it’s no doubt that it’s enjoyable. If you’re interested in becoming one, you can get started with FanDuel.

But before picking someone from these teams to include in your fantasy roster, watch out for the names on this list, as they might be limited participants.

Saints’ Alvin Kamara

Suffering from a foot injury, Kamara will be restricted in their upcoming Sunday game. The running back was included on the list of limited participants on Wednesday’s practice report. It will cause him to play 50% less than his regular performance to avoid straining his injury. While fans expect the Falcons’ offenses, his backfield snaps might not be in full power.

Saints’ Michael Thomas

Thomas was still labeled as WR2 in football fantasy despite his uncertain play on Sunday due to his ankle injury. But it did not stop the Saints from having him play against the Falcons this coming Week 13.

He tweaked his ankle at their heavy-run approach on the Denver Broncos last Week 12. Like Kamara, the wide receiver was also reported as a limited participant on the Saint’s lineup during Wednesday’s practice.

Saints’ Marcus Davenport

Davenport suffered a concussion that led him unable to practice on Thursday. Playing as the defensive end on Week 13 is still unsure as he’s marked as a limited participant on the Saint’s lineup.

Saints’ Marquez Callaway

Thomas will also miss Thursday’s practice due to his minor knee sprain. He obtained his knee injury during their last game against the Broncos when he stumbled off the field, which ruled him out after halftime. With the wide receiver’s condition, the Saints are short-handed on good players for their next game.

Falcons’ Todd Gurley

Gurley suffered a knee injury that caused his Wednesday practice to be limited. Furthermore, he will miss his practice on Thursday as his day off. Unfortunately for fantasy team managers, the running back was also listed on the list of limited participants on the Falcon’s lineup. His injury issues had held him out on his practice, even becoming inactive at their game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Having him on their approaching match against the Saints will be determined on their Friday’s practice report.

Falcons’ Calvin Ridley

As reported during their Wednesday practice, Ridley was also on limited participation due to his mid-foot sprain injury. He was forced out during last Sunday’s game when his left ankle was twisted on reception. However, he managed to return to the game twice.

He is still a WR1 for their upcoming matchup against the Saints, even though his participation will not be 100% in that game.

Falcons’ Julio Jones

Jones was one of the Falcons’ players who were also on the limited participation list while recovering from an unfortunate hamstring injury. However, he was back on minimal practice last Wednesday, and he could go back to play for the upcoming match.

Still, he did not participate in their matchup with the Raiders last Sunday and even missed out on more games before due to his worsening condition at that time.

Falcon’s Hayden Hurst

Hurst is another Falcons player who also became a limited participant reported at their Wednesday practice. Due to his ankle injury, his practices were kept to a minimum. However, to the Falcons and their fans, it was a good sign that he might be able to play for the upcoming game this Sunday. So far, he did not miss any game this season despite his ankle injury, which occurred recently.

Falcon’s Dante Fowler

Fowler is also on the list of limited participation, as announced during their Wednesday practice and the upcoming matchup this Sunday due to his hamstring injuries. Even though his injury still hasn’t fully recovered, he has been able to play through it. His injury had him missing their Week 9 game against the Denver Broncos, but later on, he still played in their later games despite trying to recover from his injury.

Takeaway

While these players might be in an adequate condition to play their upcoming game, they might not endure that much due to being included in the list. The worst thing a fantasy team manager might encounter is if the player is withdrawn from the game, hindering them from winning. But looking at the other possibility, these players might contribute more scores than anyone else on the team. They’re professionals and already know how they can handle their injuries.

Future Isn’t Looking Bright for the Bills and Browns (archival article)

2024-25 NFL Computer Predictions and Rankings looking future browns bright bills

After the first week of the NFL season, the Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns are trying to regroup after losing their first games of the year. While some might think it’s too early to panic, fans in both cities are starting to entertain the idea that this is going to be another long season without a playoff appearance for their beloved teams. Neither the Bills nor Browns covered the NFL predictions against the spread last week, and they probably won’t cover again this week.

Before the season began, fans in Buffalo had a little hope for their team after coming close to making the playoffs last year. The team resigned promising quarterback Tyrod Taylor and head coach Rex Ryan promised the team would be more disciplined and cut back on the penalties that hurt them last year, but things apparently haven’t changed because the Bills were very undisciplined on Sunday and didn’t provide a lot of protection for their quarterback.

In the first half of their game against the Baltimore Ravens, the Bills were outgained 114-2 at one point, which isn’t going to cut it if you’re trying to win games. The secondary, which was supposed to be one of their biggest strengths, looked bad and blew a lot of coverage’s during the game.

In the second half, the Bills tried to mount a comeback and got close, but the team eventually imploded, making a lot of bad choices and getting penalized for them. At one point in the second half, the Bills had cut the lead to 10-7, and had the Ravens backed up deep in their territory. Instead of forcing Baltimore to punt the ball, the Bills committed two personal fouls in three plays, and gave Baltimore great position at midfield, which they converted into a field goal.

The Cleveland Browns have known more misery than most NFL franchises, but fans still fill the Dawg Pound every season, hoping this is the year the team turns things around. However, after the overhaul the team went through in the offseason, fans knew the Browns aren’t a playoff team, but remained cautiously optimistic the Browns would have a good season.

Cleveland signed former Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III to compete for the quarterback position during the offseason. Since new head coach Hue Jackson has had a lot of success reviving the careers of quarterbacks, many felt it was a good fit.

During the first half of their game against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Browns offense didn’t look very good, but Griffin seemed like he was comfortable in the offense. As the game progressed, the Eagles figured out Cleveland’s offense and essentially shut them down.

The Browns receivers had a really rough go of it in Sunday because the ball was either being overthrown by Griffin, who struggled in the second half, or they were dropping passes thrown at them. The running game was slightly better but not by much, which made it an easy victory for the Eagles.

To make matters worse for the Browns, Griffin was hurt late in the game, and on Monday, the team placed him on IR, which means he won’t be back on the field before week 10. The good news for Cleveland Browns is that the loss of Griffin all but guarantees they will have the first pick in the draft next year, hopefully they finally find their quarterback of the future.

Are the Seahawks SuperBowl Material for 2020?

New York Jets traded Jamal Adams to Seattle Seahawks, and Colin Cowherd feels like this is the Seahawks trying to make up ground for a lot of bad picks in the past. Colin decides whether this addition will make the Seahawks Super Bowl contenders.  Our AI power rankings rank them #8 in offense and #11 in defense.  These are NOT elite numbers!
