Jets want Vick

During his news conference Wednesday, Jets coach Rex Ryan tried to talk around questions about the futures of quarterbacks Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow (though I've been adamant that it's time for Sanchez to go, no matter the cost).

On Wednesday night, the N.Y. Daily News reported that the team will try to trade Sanchez, its No. 5 overall pick from 2009, in the offseason and that Eagles quarterback Michael Vick would be “amenable” to coming to New York in 2013.

Yep, that sounds about right for a guy who's lost his starting quarterback job to Greg McElroy. Meanwhile, Tebow reportedly will ask to be traded or released after the season.

That, however, doesn't mean Sanchez won't be back. After all, he's owed an $8.25-million guarantee for 2012, and that's a hefty price to pay for a backup quarterback (and at this point in his career, that's exactly what Sanchez is). If Sanchez does return to New York next year, the paper writes that he could very well compete for the starting quarterback job again.

But what happens if Vick, who's fallen out of favor in Philadelphia and likely is on his way out of town with rookie Nick Foles taking over the starting quarterback job, is truly interested in the Jets? Well, that might mean Vick would be a favorite to win the job, especially with Rex Ryan reportedly showing “an affinity” for Vick because he would have a better chance of helping save Ryan's job with a successful 2013.

“Bring it on,” one Jets source told the Daily News. “He was hit too many times (behind a subpar offensive line) the last two years. … [Ryan] loves him.”

Meanwhile, Sanchez, for the first time in his career, took scout team snaps at Jets practice Wednesday, and afterward, he said he wasn't going to make excuses for his subpar play.

“At the end of the day, no matter what kind of situation that you're in, the quarterback has the ball and it's my job to make good decisions with the football regardless of personnel situation,” said Sanchez, who threw four interceptions on Monday in a loss to the Titans. “I'm not going to go there. Is every interception the quarterback's fault? Of course not. But they're attributed to the quarterback. It goes as my stat. You live with that. You own up to your side of the mistakes and you move on.”

And maybe moving on from New York for good.

OMG! ESPN Likes Tebow More Than Sanchez In Fantasy Football

TEBOW

In looking at ESPN's dream football quarterback rankings, I detected a little something appealing: Tim Tebow (26th) is rated ahead of incumbent Jets' quarterback Mark Sanchez (28th). This really isn't simply one individual's listing either; this is the listing developed by ESPN's whole entire Dream Team.

Tebow could be a touchdown vulture for the Jets, operating the read alternative down by the target line, yet as long as Sanchez is the starter, Tebow will certainly be little even more than that. Nonetheless, a touchdown vulture could never ever have even more value than a starting  quarterback. By placing Tebow ahead of Sanchez, ESPN's fantasy experts are essentially saying that Tebow will definitely be the starter sometime around the middle of the season.

Regardless of his oft-ugly numbers, Tebow is actually a rather decent fantasy quarterback. Though his play could be irregular from week to week, he averaged 20.48 dream points per online game in his 11 starts last season. Mark Sanchez, on the some other hand, averaged 21.54 points.

Sanchez was even working with a bunch more talent, as the Jets boast a superior offense. Additionally remember that the Broncos' run game was far below standard before Tebow took over at quarterback. They averaged 86.75 scrambling yards each game while Kyle Orton was starting (leaving out the  game when he was pulled at halftime), while the league standard was 117.1 gardens for every online game.

An additional thing to mention is that in Tebow's 3 starts in 2010 he averaged an extremely good 28.81 dream points every game.

Tim Tebow might wind up uploading solid RB3 value while Sanchez is the starter, however he won't be uploading anywhere near really good quarterback worth. The reason that ESPN rates Tebow above Sanchez is because they believe he'll be the starter sooner  than later on.

The moment Tebow is called the starter, he should be picked up as a backup and monitored as a prospective matchup-play starter, as he has the ability to construct gaudy fantasy totals.
